Dream Catchers

Dream catchers, originally crafted by the Ojibwe people, are symbolic charms designed to protect sleepers, especially children, from bad dreams and evil spirits. They began as "spider web charms," made from willow hoops and woven with string or sinew, resembling a spider's web. Although their use spread throughout Native American communities during the Pan-Indian Movement of the 1960s and 70s, dream catchers are deeply rooted in Ojibwe culture and the legend of Spider Woman, who looks after children.
